Ecological Continuity

Identification and characterization of ecological continuities in the Great South of New Caledonia.

New Caledonia has an amazing richness of biodiversity as well as globally significant nickel resources. It has therefore seen the development of numerous industrial nickel exploitation and production projects. GORO Nickel, a project promoter, has signed an agreement with Province Sud in order to better integrate biodiversity issue.

In this context the Environmental Division of Province Sud has entrusted Conservation International to assess the possibility of establishing ecological corridors in the Great South.

This work enabled us to identify and characterize ecological continuities in the Great South of New Caledonia.
